Handgun Practical Fundamentals Training Class This is not a beginning handgun class; and students should have completed a basic safety/CCW class prior to attempting this class. This class teaches the basics of what we believe a shooter needs to improve to their full potential, and is designed to give shooters a wealth of knowledge in the safe and proper use of semi-automatic pistols. It focuses on safe gun handling skills and practical marksmanship and exposes participants to the fundamentals of a strong firing stance, the proper way to grip a pistol, and correct alignment. It provides instruction to safely draw a pistol from a holster and manipulate the trigger to make accurate and fast hits on a target. Topics included in this two day course include: · Safety Instruction & Range Commands · Master grip · Constructing the draw from the holster and presentation from your grip and stance · Sight Alignment · Practical training drills and visualization exercises · Precision shooting made simple: seeing everything to hit everything · Prepping the Trigger - The secret to accuracy · Gray Guns Dry Fire Program: Trigger Reset, Prep & Release, and Sight Alignment drills · Reloading techniques and malfunction clearance drills
Required Equipment · Eye & Hearing Protection: Wraparound eye & hearing protection. Electronic hearing protection is recommended · Service Pistol: 9mm, .40 S&W, .45 Auto · Training Holster: Kydex plastic belt/duty holsters. IDPA approved is a good guide. No competition (radical cant), cross-draw, thigh, or shoulder holsters. If you have questions regarding the appropriateness of your holster, please ask. · Ammunition: ~400 rounds per day. No Hollow point, +P or magnum ammo permitted. · Belt: Sturdy belt to accommodate the weight of a loaded pistol and magazines · Magazines: 5-8 pistol magazines are suggested · Magazine carriers: Some means to carry four pistol magazines on the belt, or body · Cleaning & maintenance supplies · Recommended clothing: Hat, Jeans, BDUs or canvas type pants. No sandals or "tank tops". · Water · Sunscreen |

Instructor Jerry Jones - Grayguns Senior Staff Instructor Jerry has been teaching Grayguns classes to new shooters since 2006. “Teaching is a passion I have always had, and I am fortunate to work for someone that shares the same goals. I focus on our students, and the shooting community as a whole.” Jerry’s training expertise goes beyond practical fundamentals to self defense facets including precision speed shooting, high speed transition drills, low light/no light, ground movement, and close quarter defensive pistol, carbine and shotgun. Since 1996 Jerry has been a sheriff's deputy, is a certified Peace Officer Standards & Training firearms instructor and currently assigned to a multi-jurisdictional SWAT team. Having trained at the FBI sniper school, Jerry is certified to teach SWAT, sniper operations, firearms and TASER at the academy level. Jerry serves as an adjunct instructor to state and federal agencies in the areas of firearms and sniper deployment and development. Grayguns, Inc. Bruce Gray, founder of Grayguns, Inc. competed in pistol shooting competition for thirty-three years, and holds the highest classifications in, NRA Action, USPSA/IPSC and IDPA action shooting disciplines. Bruce has gold medals from several world-championship teams, and has won numerous state, regional and national titles over the years with Heckler & Koch, SIG Sauer and other pistol platforms. Before retiring due to orthopedic problems and surgery, Bruce ranked in the top 15 Production Division shooters worldwide. |
