Want to learn how to safely operate and shoot a pistol and carbine more accurately and effectively? Just register for this fun-filled, educational, two day Pistol - Carbine Practical Fundamentals class. It leverages the basics of what we believe a shooter needs to continue improving to his / her full potential, and is designed to give shooters a wealth of knowledge in the safe and proper use of a semi-automatic pistol and carbine. The class develops combining pistol and carbine tactical operating skills with ready-carry positions, angle and position shooting, trigger management techniques, shooting on the move, multiple targets, transitions to pistol, use of cover and concealment, practical ready and firing positions, malfunction clearing, team drills, and more. This class is not for beginners, and students should have completed a basic safety / concealed carry class. Required Equipment - Pistol · Full size service pistol in 9mm, .40 S&W, .357 SiG, 45 Auto · Holster: Kydex plastic belt/duty holster, (IDPA approved is a good guide), or thigh holster. No competition (radical cant), cross-draw, IWB, or shoulder holsters. If you have questions regarding the appropriateness of your holster, please ask. · Sturdy duty belt (1-1/2” minimum recommended) to accommodate the weight of a loaded pistol and magazines · Magazines: Four minimum, more suggested · Magazine carriers: Some means to carry four magazines on belt or vest · Ammunition: ~200 pistol rounds per day, no Hollow point, +P or magnum ammo Required Equipment - Carbine · Service carbine (AR or piston type, must have removable magazines) No fully automatic weapons permitted on club property. · Carbine Sling - tactical-type preferred · Quality Red Dot sight. Aimpoint, Reflex, EoTech, etc. (If you are running something else, let us know ahead of time.) · Magazines: Six minimum, more suggested · Dual magazine attachment · Magazine carriers: Some means to carry several carbine magazines on the body. If you normally wear an assault vest, please bring it. · Ammunition: ~500 rifle rounds per day. No API or tracer permitted. Health & Safety · Wraparound eye & hearing protection. Electronic hearing protection suggested · Jeans, BDUs or canvas type pants, hat, rain gear. No sandals or low cut tops · Shooting mat, elbow & knee pads recommended · Water, protein / power bars · Sunscreen We shoot in all weather conditions |

Instructor Jerry Jones - Grayguns Senior Staff Instructor Jerry has been teaching Grayguns classes to new shooters since 2006. “Teaching is a passion I have always had, and I am fortunate to work for someone that shares the same goals. I focus on our students, and the shooting community as a whole.” Jerry’s training expertise goes beyond practical fundamentals to self defense facets including precision speed shooting, high speed transition drills, low light/no light, ground movement, and close quarter defensive pistol, carbine and shotgun. Since 1996 Jerry has been a sheriff's deputy, is a certified Peace Officer Standards & Training firearms instructor and currently assigned to a multi-jurisdictional SWAT team. Having trained at the FBI sniper school, Jerry is certified to teach SWAT, sniper operations, firearms and TASER at the academy level. Jerry serves as an adjunct instructor to state and federal agencies in the areas of firearms and sniper deployment and development. |

Coming Next Spring - Advanced Pistol Class - April 8th & 9th, 2011 This is an intensive training class, and shooters should come prepared to learn, both mentally and physically, to develop the ability to draw and hit discrete targets at human reaction speed. We will burn 1,500 rounds in two days, and shoot almost entirely on steel. It will be a hard, “shoot till you puke” rewarding experience. At the end of the class, we have the option of buying the steel targets at 1/2 price. Prerequisites: · Possess the skill to draw a centerfire pistol on demand, and hit an “A” box at 7 yards in 1.5 seconds. · Submit past training experience with the registration form. · The nature of the class elevates extra precaution for everyone on the line to be able to participate and perform safely, period. · Class size is limited to 12 students. |
